During the 1940s, my great-grandmother, Hazel Eva (Shook) Rork, collected photos and newspaper clippings about her family members and others in her town. Most of the clippings are related to soldiers from Osgood, Indiana who joined the military, including her two sons, Horatio Thornton Rork and Harold Albert Rork (my grandfather). I’ll share some of the individual clippings over time, but for now, here are a few examples of what can be found in the scrapbook:

Wow, what a great treasure!
I didn’t know she made this. I would like to see it sometime.

Hello, Karen, I found your blog by googling Reese Swinney, my 3-greats grandfather on my father’s mother’s side, and found your transcriptions of his father’s journal. (He mentions “Sabbath” and my mom learned the Swinneys were Seventh Day Baptists for generations.) Thanks for those images and your transcription work! I have a line of Swinneys and spouses going back to John Swinney Sr of Dublin. I have a 16×20″ photo of Reese Swinney and Patience Trapp Swinney. I could email it to you if you’re interested.
So I’m scrolling through your other posts, and find a familiar name, Hazel Shook Rork. I am pretty sure that my late mom, the family genealogist, met and/or corresponded with Hazel in the 1970s. My guess is that Hazel was a 1st or 2nd cousin of my paternal grandmother, Larna Opal Carter Robinson of Albia, IA.
Although I enjoy genealogy and have a massive pedigree chart that occupies a whole wall, I don’t subscribe to Ancestry.com. Too pricey for my budget. If you want to get in touch, you can use the contact form at my business website, http://christykrobinson.com (Sorry to be so cagey, but you know spammers…)
Hello, Christy, my name is Rebecca Swinney Mullins. My G.G.G.
Grandfather was Reese A. Swinney, from Ripley County. If the other
lady did’nt take the picture of Reese & Patience I would love to talk
to you about it or get a copy of it. I remember Hazel Rork and some
of the Rork family.
Hi, Rebecca. I did connect with Karen on email and Facebook. But the beauty of digital images is that I can send you the same picture with no extra trouble. If you use the contact form at my website (in my comment above), you’ll be forwarded to my email, and we can connect more directly. Then I can send you the photo of Reese and Patience.
Thanks Christy!
