This is the wedding picture of Robert Ora Ray and Tressa Cross Ray. They were married on March 17, 1904 in Osgood, Indiana.
They had four children:
Crystal Ardrey Ray, born July 18, 1910
Lillian Cora Ray, born September 30, 1912
Robert William Ray, born February 26, 1918
Fern Dolores Ray, born February 28, 1925 (my grandmother)
Karen, I have not seen this picture in years. They were so beautiful. Thought you might like the newspaper announcement. Juanita

Mr.Ray is a well-to-do farmer and is from one of the best families in Decatur county. These young people have a host of friends to rise up and congratulate them.”
Thanks, Juanita! I love that headline. 🙂
I love seeing our ancestors’ pictures!
I do too! Isn’t it great to put faces to the names?
I have been thinking about Tressa and Robert O. so much this morning. Here is something I just thought about:
Crystal used to say they were “cradle babies” because they shared a cradle when they were little. Their parents were friends. Amazing that they always knew each other. When I knew them he always called her “Mother” and she called him “Orey” and so did his friends. Friends called her Mrs. Ray, even my Dad.
Auntie Juanita, What a neat picture. Is this the grandmother you think I take after? If so, thank you, she is very pretty. And she looks so young. Thank you for sharing it.
Jamee, This is your cousin Karen Hromada’s post on her blog. She posted the picture. She is Aunt Fern’s (Crystal Ray Smith’s sister) grandaughter. You are both ggrandaughters of Tressa Cross and Robert Ora Ray. Yes you remind me of Tressa. She was 21 yrs when they married. I hope you follow Karen’s blog. She is posting great info about our family. Aunt Juanita
